Due 2 sound reasons. My locale puts slashes in the date that the system 
doesn't like as file names and, more important, dates since standards 
are standards, should be in ISO format, so that they can be ordered and 
are the same ones for everybody (English people and not). Maybe there 
are sound reasons to do this way (date %x), but I don't understand which 
ones could be.

Gradite patches al mio englisce e anche ai miei argomenti e anche 
soppressione della paccina se ha delle buone ragioni che ignoro per fare 
come faceva.
