Hi,
There is now an apt/yum repository for kernel-desktop and related
There is also a new version which remove a patch that outputs all read 
files during bootup. Those who found that anoying problem can install  the
latest version.

The repo is at: http://apt.bea.ki.se/kernel-desktop
