E' uscita fresca fresca la versione 8.1 di Slackware, la piu' antica
distro linux tuttora aggiornata (oltre che, imho, la piu'
stabile/leggera/gestibile/unixlike)

Ecco l'annuncio della 8.1 e della 8.1RC1

That's right, Slackware 8.1 has been released and is available for
download right now from:

ftp://ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackware/slackware-8.1/

An installation ISO image can be found here:

ftp://ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackware/slackware-8.1-iso/

And, of course, we will be happy to accept your pre-orders for the
Slackware 8.1 official 4 CD-ROM set here:

http://store.slackware.com

Highlights of this release include KDE 3.0.1, GNOME 1.4.1 (with new
additions like Evolution), the long-awaited Mozilla 1.0 browser, support
for many new filesystems like ext3, ReiserFS, JFS, and XFS, and support
for several new SCSI and ATA RAID controllers.

Thanks to everyone who helped made this release possible. Enjoy! :-)

Slackware 8.1 release candidate 1 now available
As recently reported on Slashdot, the first release candidate for
Slackware 8.1 is now available on ftp.slackware.com (and hopefully some
mirrors by now). Recent additions to -current include Mozilla-1.0rc3,
KDE-3.0.1, and gcc-3.1. This is all leading up to what we're hoping will
be the best Slackware release ever! Thanks to all the people
contributing bug reports, patches, and suggestions. :-)
